Manager Spotlight: Julie

We’re beginning a new series here on the blog called Manager Spotlight - in which we’ll feature all of our wonderful Onsite Managers so you can get to know our crew! First up, Julie! Not only is she TGT Logistics Lead but you can also find her onsite any given day as an Event Manager!

Introduce yourself:

Hiii! I’m Julie, the Logistics Lead for The Get Together Events and Event Manager in New York. I live in Brooklyn and grew up just over the Hudson River in Ridgewood, NJ.

What was the path that led you to The Get Together Events?

Lauren and I went to college together (Go Hoosiers!) and are both theater nerds. I had coordinated a wedding for a friend down in Houston, TX and absolutely loved it! So when I moved to NY the following year, I reached out to Lauren to get involved in her growing business. I started as an Event Manager in New York (while also working in theater) and am now the Logistics Lead aka right hand gal to Lauren.

What is your favorite moment of the wedding?

This is cheesy, but my favorite moment of any wedding is when the client(s) walks down the aisle. There is so much excitement, anticipation, and emotion in this moment that it gives every single person in the room THE FEELS. I’m also a big fan of toasts! You can learn so much about the couple through the eyes of their loved ones. The good, the bad, and the hilarious are all wrapped into this perfect little gift of sharing what, how, and why they love you so deeply. OH and of course a rocking dance party! Ok ok, that’s a lot of favorite moments! Was I supposed to pick just one?!

Most useful / most used item in your supply kit?

My multi-tool! The first time I whipped out my leatherman onsite, Lauren made fun of me! But it has proved to be my most useful tool time and again!

What's your favorite dance floor song?
A Backstreet Boys throwback!

Where can we find you the day after a wedding?
On the couch! Weddings are incredible AND exhausting so I usually sleep in followed by a big breakfast!

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

Mother of the Bride called me a “fairy godmother” recently and I thought that was so sweet.

What do you do on weekends when you're not working?

Mostly spend time with the people I love! But I also love my neighborhood farmers market, laying in the park in the sunshine, heading upstate for a hiking trip or out to the beach!

Any recent cause for celebration?

I love any excuse to celebrate! I’m always looking for a “reason” to go out for a nice dinner and a fancy cocktail! But I especially love birthdays! Cake and all your favorite people in one place are a few of my favorite things!

An accomplishment you are most proud of?

When I’m not working with The Get Together Events, I work as a Stage Manager at Company on Broadway. I learned to call the show this winter, which basically just means I say “Go” a lot to make the lights and automated scenery move/change when they’re supposed to. Now I call the show a few times a week and it’s a real “pinch me” moment every time I sit at the call desk.

Favorite TV show you binged recently?

I absolutely loved Sex Education on Netflix. But I’m also a sucker for Bridgerton!

Any advice for future clients?

Soak it in and enjoy every moment! Your wedding day will FLY by!
