4 Reasons Why Your Zoom Wedding Still Needs a Wedding Coordinator

So you’re getting married via Zoom. First, I’m sorry- I’m assuming this wasn’t your expected wedding ceremony. Second, what a story to tell the grandkids! Third, know you are not alone. As Business Insider notes, folks are now flocking to have a Zoom wedding!

While it might be Zoom (I mean, how hard can it be right?) and it might not be the wedding you’ve dreamed of, it’s still your gosh-darn-once-in-a-lifetime wedding! Don’t shoot it to shit. You should still be able to have it executed flawlessly. Therefore, below I’ve provided 4 Reasons for Why Your Zoom Wedding Still Needs a Wedding Coordinator.

1. Have you ever been on a perfectly executed Zoom call?

Zoom, GoogleHangouts, Skype, House Party, whatever your platform, it always takes a moment for folks to get set-up and at attention. Add in potential wedding attendees that might have a total of ZERO video conferencing experience (hey Grandma!), and it could be a recipe for disaster. And you are the guest of honor, not the chatroom manager.

Just like at any wedding, your wedding coordinator can troubleshoot guest issues before the wedding begins. They can hold any latecomers in the waiting room (it’s still a wedding y’all! Be on time!) and they can manage the chat room for any questions/comments/issues throughout the wedding.

2. Wedding Coordinators are trained to think of the things other folx don’t.

It is our job to be creative and think of ways to enhance your wedding day. Since our brains are seeing your wedding from a different angle, we will think of elements that you might not have previously considered- nitty gritty details like microphone placement, where the rings will be, and lighting are all things, just like a regular wedding, wedding coordinators will think of for you.

For example, this weekend I witnessed a Zoom ceremony and I took photos of every Zoom page, capturing the guests in attendance. While I wasn’t asked to do this- it’s just in my DNA- something that no one but a wedding industry freak like me would think of.

3. Your Zoom wedding will still have vendors.

Whether it’s your officiant, your musical source, hair or makeup, a florist, or perhaps a cake- there will still be vendors. As a wedding coordinator, vendor management is a huge chunk of our “regular wedding” job! So why change it up? What time should your hair stylist show up before you go online? Let your wedding coordinator handle this for you.

4. Like at all weddings, wedding coordinators provide structure and support.

Ever been on a Zoom call where no one knows what to do? Who speaks first? Where should we direct our focus?

The format of online conferencing is unnatural in form. With structure you can make the space more comfortable and natural. Your wedding coordinator can provide that for you in the form of timelines, run-of-shows, ceremony scripts and order of events.

As you go through planning your Zoom wedding, you’ll find that many traditional wedding elements can still exist. You can still have 150 guests, you can still have vows and toasts, a first dance and a send-off. So with all of these details, why would you leave it to yourself and your family to coordinate? Allow yourself and your loved ones to be fully present.

Your road to a Zoom wedding wasn’t an easy one. It’s time to make things a little bit easier and give yourself the gift of a wedding coordinator.
